The customer base of the business includes mostly homeowners and some business owners. The trail income is circa $300,000 per annum, loan book +$200 million, with approximately 10,000 people recorded on the database. The business receives referrals from various sources including clients, financial planners, accountants, lawyers and networking contacts. Some of these relationships have been developed over a 30 year period and the Vendor feels could be further leveraged. This aspect of the business is important and would be difficult to recreate, so provides a significant benefit to an incoming partner or owner.
The business currently operates from a centrally located office and there is one employee who undertakes the administration aspects. The Vendor feels a benefit of being part of a well known and respected franchise is access to their brand, marketing materials, services and platforms. The reason why potential purchasers wish to acquire a share in an existing Mortgage Broking business, rather than growing a client base organically, is normally due to immediate income from day one, immediate scale, business infrastructure in place and channelling energy into increasing client work/profits rather than finding/creating them.
The Vendor has advised that due to the growth opportunities of the business and his personal circumstances, the introduction of a Partner would enable him to share the workload during the week and better manage the clients and the future growth. This can be further discussed with the Vendor at the appropriate time. The Vendor would also entertain a full 100% sale.
